Live in the light. . . .
Roxy is our little French Bulldog. Roxy has a good life. Most of her days are waiting for me to get home so we can play. She loves to play. When I’m not home, she spends most of her days living in the light of the sun. She sleeps in the light. She basks in the light. She loves the light. Roxy seeks the light like it is her job.
Roxy gives us a picture of our daily calling.
One, yes, you should get enough vitamin D. Many people are vitamin D deficient. Just sayin’.
Two, and more importantly, you need the light of Jesus’ love. Seek it out by the Spirit’s power like it is your job. It’s actually not a job—it’s a calling in all of our vocations. A calling that daily reminds us we’re baptized, we’re loved, we’re whole, we’re redeemed, we’re righteous, we’re justified, we’re a new creation. The old has gone. Behold, the new has come!
Take a cue from Roxy. Sleep, bask, and live in the light of Christ’s love!
This Christmas season find yourself startled from your routine with the light giving proclamation of the angels:
And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger” (Luke 2:10-12).
This good news fills our hearts with the light and joy of Jesus! Run with the shepherds and bask in the light of the incarnate Word—Jesus, Your Savior.
Oh, and don’t forget, you’re sent to invite others to do the same.
Merry Christmas from the ULC!
