Friend,
I notice a growing angst and indifference in the LCMS. Angst over rapid decline and loss. Indifference that wonders if the LCMS matters.

I’ve been a pastor in St. Louis for 20 years, giving me a unique perspective at the crossroads of our denomination. I believe we’re at a critical moment. At such times, the easy impulse is anger, frustration, or despair. Or political aspirations to get “our guys” in charge.
In the last year, I’ve been challenged to pray for our church body. It’s easier to complain than pray. In Lent, I will be praying for an aspect of our church each day.
Will you join me in a coordinated prayer movement for the LCMS during the season of Lent?
Before you stop reading: By prayer movement I mean more than pious petitions with folded hands. God’s people have united in earnest prayer at critical moments:
Corporate: All God’s people together. (Daniel 9; Acts 4:23-31)
Persistent: Intentional, coordinated, constant. (Luke 11:9; I Thess. 5:17)
Kingdom Focused: Not for ourselves, for “maintenance” of what is, but bold seeking of God’s Kingdom “on earth as it is in heaven.” And the courage to join in on what he’s already doing. (Matt. 6:10, 33)
Join an army who will pray the attached petitions together, every day, through Lent.
Thank you for your partnership. Seriously. Thank you.
Onward in Christ,
Jeff
